I am Ea Polman, a multidisciplinary designer with a special focus on textiles and graphics. My practice has familiarities with surface design: artwork applied to a surface to enhance its functionality and visual appearance. Think windows, walls, floors, ceilings, etc.
My work interacts with light, showing patterns and colors that appear and disappear. What you see is never a fixed situation, but one that always offers new surprises. During my studies at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy (2011) and the Sandberg Institute (2015), I discovered a fascination for the tactility and structure of textiles. Combining this material fascination with my love for graphics results in work full of sensory detail.
In addition to developing my own projects, I am always on the lookout for new collaborations ranging from product- to surface design and art direction.
At the Rietveld Academy and Sandberg Institute I guide future artists and designers in textile experimentation. Besides my teachings, I am an internal advisor at the same academy, establishing long-term visions on the future of art and design education.
